Exams and Cleanings

Exams and Cleanings in Dallas, TX

Dental exams and cleanings are things we perform at All Care Dental in Dallas, TX during regular visits. Adults need to schedule a visit every six months. The frequency of regular visits varies for children based on their age and dental condition.

A regular visit to the dentist is one that you make despite not having any complaints. If your tooth hurts or you’re having other dental problems and come see us at All Care Dental, it doesn’t qualify as a regular visit. The main purpose of these visits is to detect potential issues that are there but not producing any symptoms yet.

Regular Dental Exams

A regular dental exam is only a few minutes long. You’ll remain comfortable throughout the exam. We explain to patients that we start by inspecting the mouth. This includes using special tools in our office to get a better look. Next, we start our examination.

The exam is done gently so that you don’t feel any discomfort. We check all parts of the mouth during these exams. We’re not just focused on your teeth. We also check your tongue, gums, and other areas. If we notice a mass, ulcer, or area of discoloration, we worry that it might be a tumor. In that case, we might elect to acquire a biopsy so it can be sent for analysis.

The presence of a mass or irregularity doesn’t automatically mean that a patient has cancer. Only the biopsy will tell, but most biopsies end up being benign.

Regular Dental Cleanings

People can get hard aggregates over their teeth. These collections are known as plaque and tartar. They contain bacteria. Since the bacteria are surrounded by a hard outer shell, it remains protected from the toothbrush. If left to grow and replicate, bacteria can start to infect your gums. We can easily get rid of these collections and build-ups using our tools. No matter how hard you try, it will be almost impossible to remove them at home. By cleaning your teeth, you’ll keep them clean and fresh while lowering the likelihood of infections.
